Raashi Kulkarni is a composer and classical pianist based in Los Angeles. She has established a distinct compositional voice that can be heard across a variety of genres, including drama, comedy, adventure, thriller, animation, and action. Raashi’s global perspective, study of different music disciplines, and passion for storytelling have been instrumental in the compositions she has developed for a vast spectrum of film and television projects. Her scoring work can be heard in the feature film, A Nice Indian Boy, starring Jonathan Groff and Karan Soni, directed by Roshan Sethi, the Netflix and Imagine Entertainment feature, Wedding Season, directed by Tom Dey, the award-winning documentary, Barefoot Empress, written and directed by Michelin Star Chef Vikas Khanna, the Disney+ film, World’s Best, from director Roshan Sethi and producers Thomas Kail and Utkarsh Ambudkar, and the NAACP Image Award-nominated documentary, ifine: beauty, directed by Adisa and Ebony Gilbert. Kulkarni is the 2023 recipient of The ASCAP Foundation David Rose Award and a 2024 ASCAP Composers’ Choice Award Nominee for Film Score of the Year (World’s Best). PINCH, Raashi's latest feature film, will have its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival under the International Narrative Competition.
Raashi, alongside Emmy winner Blake Neely, contributed additional music to over 150 episodes of Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. In 2019, she composed and orchestrated the music for the DC Universe’s first Bollywood-inspired musical. Her independent albums, Raashi (2018) and Afterglow (2020), debuted at #1 and #2 on the iTunes World Music Charts, respectively.
Beyond composing, Raashi is an active advocate for the music community. She serves as a Governor and former Advisor on the Recording Academy’s LA Chapter Board, a GRAMMY U Mentor, and a Board of Directors member and former Executive Director of the Alliance for Women Film Composers. She was also a participant in the prestigious Universal Composers Initiative (2021-2023).
Over the last decade, Raashi has performed in concert tours across the globe with several prominent artists from the United States and India, including world-renowned Bollywood composers, Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani. She has performed as a featured pianist at the Shrine Auditorium, Village Studios, Kennedy Center, Smithsonian Museum, Patriot Center, Warner Theatre, and Kodak Hall. Her YouTube piano covers, which are arranged solely by ear, have been discovered and recognized by iHeartRadio, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, Capitol Records (as part of Beck’s successful GRAMMY campaign), YouTube India, and Pharrell Williams’ partnership with The United Nations Foundation.
